The Keeler lab uses mice, primary neuronal cultures, and the peripheral somatosensory nervous system as models to explore nociception and pain processing. We currently have the following 4 active projects:
1) nociceptor (pain neuron) development in normal and genetically perturbed mice
2) the role of nociceptor-derived extracellular vesicles in development and chronic pain
3) the neuro-immune-joint axis in osteoarthritis
4) sexual dimorphisms in pain systems and processing
